The Triumph of Artemisia is an evocative multimedia concert that resurrects the remarkable yet tumultuous life of Artemisia Gentileschi, one of the most extraordinary painters of the Baroque era.
Through a vivid blend of original music, storytelling, and stunning visuals, this unique performance invites audiences into the world of a trailblazing artist whose work and legacy were nearly lost to history.
Born in the post-Renaissance period, Artemisia was not only a master of her craft but also a fierce advocate for the depiction of strong, complex women in art—a reflection of her own indomitable spirit.
Despite suffering a traumatic rape and a humiliating public trial in her youth, Artemisia became the first woman admitted to Florence’s Academy of the Arts of Drawing and one of the few female artists to achieve fame in a male-dominated world. Her work, celebrated for its portrayals of women, was nearly lost to history due to societal prejudice

“Artemisia” is Linda Marie Smith’s first conceptual piece. Captivated by Artemisia’s story, she endeavored to capture the artist’s style and rhythm through musical and visual representations of Artemisia’s work, creating a multi-dimensional experience of her legacy.
As Linda has herself described: “Life and the everyday are what drive my music. I try to capture how we as human beings think, feel and react towards obstacles and struggles. I like to think of my music as part of the chain that encourages us all to be warriors through adversity.”
